Canoe Creek Trail
Trailhead: Garden Club of America Grove parking lot
Location: Two miles south of Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center at the Garden Club of America Grove parking lot. Mile marker 14.7 on the Avenue of the Giants.
Hiking time: 1½ hours
Distance: 2 miles one-way
Difficulty: Moderate, steep slopes along the canyon
Elevation gain/loss:
  • Starting elevation: 200 feet
  • Gain/loss: approximately 30 feet
Seasonal bridge access: Yes - summer only (approximately June-September)
Description:
This grove of redwoods contains approximately 5,000 acres. It is dedicated as a monument to the vision and generosity of the members of the Garden Club of America. The creek is a winter spawning stream for salmon and steelhead. After crossing the creek, you will enter an old-growth redwood forest with some large Douglas fir trees. This trail no longer crosses the creek, and no longer makes a complete loop. Older maps may be inaccurate.
