Trailhead: Four miles west of the Avenue of the Giants on the Mattole Road at the turnout on the right just past the Rockefeller Redwood Forest/Big Tree Area.
Location: Four miles west of the Avenue of the Giants on the Mattole Road. Eight miles from Humboldt Redwoods State Park Visitor Center.
Hiking time: 1 ½ hours
Distance: 1 ½ miles round trip
Difficulty: Moderate

  • Gain/loss: approximately 410 feet
Description:
This trail trail leads to the gravesite of one of the first settlers in the Bull Creek area. Addie Johnson and her husband, Tosaldo, arrived around 1872. One day, while searching for a lost sheep, Addie found this site. She told her husband that she would want to be buried there. Not too long after, she died in childbirth. She was 27 years old.
