Humboldt Redwoods State Park

Humboldt Redwoods SP (HRSP) has a very nice facility for horse use. Adjacent to extensive horse trails, beautiful views of redwoods and open hills. Campground located in old apple orchard. Group camp ($90/night) and individual sites ($16/night) in same location.

Lake Earl site provides large open area for individual &/or group equestrian use. Camp may also be used by backpackers and for day use. Located in rolling dunes near Pacific Ocean and Smith River. Riding is along diverse old road system, trails and on beach. $3.00/person or $50/group. Contact ranger (707) 464-6101 ext. 5151

 

Jedediah Smith no overnight-day use only no (hitch post) no yes

Jedediah Smith Redwoods SP offers day use only, but rides meander through redwood forest, along creeks and onto bald hills with spectacular wildflowers in spring.

Sinkyone Wilderness has two horse camping area located on either end (17 miles apart) of the park. This is primitive camping and riding with magnificent views of the Lost Coast area. Cost varies with on/off season.
