Seasonal Employment
The state parks employ many seasonal workers. Seasonal positions include maintenance, visitor services and interpretation. These jobs generally begin in May or June and end in August or September. You should be available to work from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Work usually involves weekends and evenings.
To apply, download the application form below and fill it out. You may apply to as many parks as you like. You may even copy the application as long as there is an original signature and date on each application you send. You will need the Adobe Acrobat reader to open this application form. It is available free on the Adobe web site. You can fill the application in and print it from your computer, but Adobe Acrobat Reader does not allow saving of the data.

Permanent Employment
Before you can be hired, you must establish eligibility by taking civil service tests in each classification for which you are qualified. To check currently available exams, and view descriptions of positions available, visit the California State Parks web site. Exams are statewide, not limited to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Examples of permanent jobs include ranger (law enforcement), lifeguard, maintenance and office positions.
