large numbers of visitors to the park. Most of these events are sponsored by groups

| Avenue of the Giants Marathon | This Marathon is generally held the first weekend in May each year. See the Avenue of the Giants Marathon web site for details. This is a marathon and 10K. Sponsored by Six Rivers Running Club. |
| Humboldt Redwoods Marathon | Marathon and half-Marathon. It is an event sponsored by the Six Rivers Running Club. The Marathon is generally held the third weekend in October each year. See the Humboldt Redwoods Marathon web site for more details. |
| Tour of the Unknown Coast | This bike race is called "California's Toughest Century" and covers some of the most spectacular countryside in the county. The route passes through the northern end of the Avenue of the Giants and continues out the Mattole Road on the west side of the park. See the Tour of the Unknown Coast web site for more details. |
| Ranger-led canoe trips | In the spring, park rangers lead canoe trips down the south fork of the Eel
River. These trips generally cover less than ten miles of river and last one day. The
river level affects when these canoe activities take place, but they generally are held
around the end of April and into mid-May. Contact

| Paddle to the Headwaters | A Canoe Marathon down the Eel River. This event
begins in the park and ends near Fortuna. For more information, see the Paddle to the Headwaters web
site. This is an American Canoe Association sanctioned event. |
| Redwood Run | The Redwood Run is an annual event for Harley motorcycle riders. The main event is held south of the park, at Piercy. During this weekend, the park gets many riders visiting. Watch for the bikes on the Avenue of the Giants. See the Redwood Run web site for more details. |
